Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to interact with the body's cells. Also known as Photobiomodulation (PBM), this treatment help naturally stimulate your body’s production of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) — a key source of energy for your cells.

By supporting cellular energy and regeneration, red light therapy may help promote healing, recovery, circulation, healthy aging, mood, and overall cellular function.

At Renew Chiropractic, we use the PlatinumLED BIOMAX PRO Ultra, a professional-grade light therapy panel, as an additional wellness option for appropriate patients.

A gentle, non-invasive approach to supporting recovery and wellness.

Benefits of Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy may help support:

Skin Rejuvenation: Supports collagen production and skin health.

Pain Management: May help relieve certain types of muscle and joint discomfort.

Muscle Recovery: Supports recovery after physical activity.

Wound Healing: May support the body's natural tissue repair process.

Circulation and Cellular Health: May support normal cellular function and local circulation.

Results vary depending on the individual and treatment goals. Some people may notice changes after a session, while others may need consistent treatments to see results.

Red Light Therapy is not a cure or a replacement for necessary medical care.

What to Expect During Your Session

Red Light Therapy is non-invasive and does not require needles or surgery.

  1. Get comfortable. Your provider will position you appropriately for the treatment area.

  2. Relax during treatment. The light will be directed toward the targeted area for a specific amount of time.

  3. Return to your day. Most sessions require little to no downtime.

You may notice warmth or mild skin sensitivity, although the experience varies. Your treatment time and settings will be selected according to the device instructions and your individual needs.

Red Light Therapy may be appropriate for some patients, but it is not suitable for everyone.

Is Red Light Therapy Right for You?

Before your session, please let your provider know if you:

  • Take medications or use skin products that increase sensitivity to light.

  • Have a condition that makes you sensitive to light.

  • Are pregnant or may be pregnant.

  • Have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device.

  • Have active skin cancer, a suspicious skin lesion, or an infection in the area to be treated.

  • Have reduced sensation in the treatment area or have been advised to avoid light exposure.

This list is not exhaustive. Your provider may recommend medical clearance or additional precautions before treatment. Appropriate eye protection will be used according to the device instructions.

  1. Does Red Light Therapy hurt?

Most people find it comfortable. You should not experience significant pain. Let your provider know immediately if you feel discomfort, excessive heat, or eye irritation.

  2. How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your goals, the area being treated, and your individual response. Some people may need a series of sessions, and results are not guaranteed.

Your treatment schedule should be based on your needs and the Provider’s recommendations. Some protocols use several sessions per week initially, followed by less frequent sessions for maintenance.

For best results, we recommend 1–2 sessions per week for 2 months. For maintenance and general wellness, 1 session per week.

  3. Can I receive Red Light Therapy with chiropractic care?

It may be used as a complementary part of an individualized care plan when appropriate. Your provider can help determine whether it fits your needs.

  4. Is Red Light Therapy a replacement for chiropractic or medical treatment?

No. It is a complementary therapy and should not replace appropriate medical evaluation, prescribed treatment, or other recommended care.
